At the age of 12, Jim began performing in front of audiences. Since then, he has shared the stage with various artists, including The Marshall Tucker Band, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, Blackhawk, John Kay of Steppenwolf, Sawyer Brown, Vern Gosdin, Dan Seals, and John Michael Montgomery. In 1991, Jim and his band won the "Hodag Country Band Pickoff." He also performed several sold-out shows at the famous Bluebird Café in Nashville, TN, during his time there from 1993 to 2008.
